Play The Viper Room on the Sunset Strip

The Viper Room, one of the most legendary venues in the world, opened its doors on August 14, 1993. Originally co-owned by Johnny Depp and 21 Jump Street co-star Sal Jenco, the venue quickly became a cultural landmark. Its stage has seen unforgettable performances by Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stone Temple Pilots, Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Marilyn Manson, The Strokes, and countless others.

The Viper Room has also been a playground for Hollywood’s elite — from Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston, Keanu Reeves, and Charlize Theron to Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Christina Aguilera, and Pamela Anderson.

When you play The Viper Room, you’re part of a history where rock legends perform and Hollywood stars come to party.

What We Ask From Artists

We do not require artists to physically sell tickets. However, to play the Main Room you should be able to draw at least 35 people. Acoustic acts in the Lounge should be able to draw at least 15. These numbers are to ensure a successful night for both the artists and the venue.

Once confirmed, you’ll receive a ticket link to promote. Online sales are tracked and will help determine set times. There are three early sets (30 minutes each) and three later sets (40 minutes each). The artists with the strongest advance sales will get first choice of set times.

Hit the minimum and you’re in: welcome to “Johnny’s Room,” the backstage green room built for Johnny Depp, now an exclusive artist hangout stocked with pizza and drinks.

If you don’t meet the minimum draw, you won’t be required to pay the difference, but you also won’t be paid or receive drink tickets, and you’ll most likely play first or last.

Artist Compensation

  • If the bar meets its guarantee, bands that reach the minimum draw receive at least 50% of their total sales. If the night is especially successful, the payout is typically higher.

  • If the bar doesn’t meet the guarantee, bands that reach the minimum draw receive at least 25% of their total sales. Depending on how short the bar is, the payout may range from 25% to 50%.

Note: The bar guarantee is the minimum amount that must be spent at the bar for the venue to break even. If the bar does not meet this guarantee, ticket sales may be applied toward it. This is why the artist’s cut is reduced when the bar does not reach the minimum.

The Viper Room will issue Tower 74 a check at the end of the night. We typically complete final settlements within three business days, and payouts are made via Venmo or Zelle.

Extra Perks & Opportunities

Each showcase is curated by genre, with industry guests personally invited to attend. Bands that impress both the venue and our industry contacts may be offered:

  • Opening slots for national acts

  • Headlining opportunities with exclusive access to Johnny’s Room and a VIP booth

  • Become part of The Viper Room’s history
